Having something comfortable to wear is so important, especially when you’re planning to breastfeed. Along with all the discomfort of just giving childbirth, your breasts are trying to make sure your baby is getting the nutrition it needs.
So take my advice and get this comfy nursing bra. This nursing bra is a great option because it is high quality and will last for as long as you choose to breastfeed. They also have great support.
Nipple Cream
Nipple cream is a must when starting on your breastfeeding journey. Your nipples will become sore and perhaps might even crack. This will provide relief and help be a protective barrier if you choose to put it on before your nursing session.
Nursing Pads
There are so many different options when it comes to nursing pads. In the beginning, disposable nursing pads work best because you will leak a lot. You also don’t want to worry about if you have clean nursing pads when you’re exhausted with a newborn.
As your body figures things out a little bit better after the first few weeks, you can move to washable, reusable nursing pads.
Gel Nursing Pads
Trust me when I say you will need relief of some sort when you are breastfeeding. Whether you have sore nipples or are experiencing a clogged duct, it’s good to have something on hand to help. These gel nursing pads are my favorite because they can be used hot or cold.
Electric Breast Pump
Whether you plan to stay at home with your baby or go back to work, every mom always wants to have a little stash of breastmilk in the freezer for moments when a break is needed.
This breast pump can be used as a single or a double pump and has several settings to help fit your preferences.
Pump Accessories
If you’re planning to pump, you will definitely want to have extra pump accessories on hand.
You don’t want to have to wait to pump because you need to wash and sterilize your pump parts. Having two sets really helps with saving time and keeping you on schedule.
Manual Breast Pump
The Haakaa silicone manual breast pump lives up to its hype. If you haven’t heard of it before, it’s a manual breast pump that you can just suction to your breast and let it do the work for you. It’s also great to put on the opposite breast that you are feeding on to collect milk from your letdown.
Every drop counts!
It’s the perfect portable pump to take with you when you may be out and about and need some relief.
Milk Storage Bags
Breastmilk storage bags are a must if you plan to pump and have extra breastmilk to freeze and have on hand. These are a favorite because they are pre-sterilized and have a double zipper to keep it sealed without worry.
These bags are great because you are able to lay them down so you can maximize storage space in your freezer. It also has a nice tab at the top for easy labeling. Measurements on the bag also help you know how much milk you are putting away.

It has a lovely wrap-around design where you can buckle it to help keep everything in place. It’s adjustable, so you can make it as loose or tight as you want.
There is also a nice little pouch on the front where you can store things like chapstick, a Haaka pump, or really anything you might need while feeding your baby. You will want a comfortable nursing bra to sleep in. A sleeping nursing bra keeps everything in while you get your much-needed rest. You will want to pick up a few of these.
Nursing Cover
This high-quality nursing cover is so easy to use. Not everyone likes to cover up, but if you do choose to, this cover is great because it has a band at the top so you can see the baby while still being covered.
It’s also nice and light, so your baby doesn’t get hot and irritated. The pattern is cute, and this works perfectly for extra coverage or helps your baby not get distracted while breastfeeding.
Water Bottle or Large Cup
Whether you like ice-cold water, room temperature, or a nice warm beverage, having a water bottle or large cup basically attached to you is a great idea when you are breastfeeding. Water intake is so important to keep up with your milk supply. And it always seems that you are the most thirsty when you are nursing your baby. So be smart and keep water with you at all times.
Feeding Application on Your Phone
Sometimes the most challenging part about breastfeeding is keeping track of everything. When did you last feed your baby? How long did they nurse for? What side do I need to nurse on? Having an application on your phone helps so much. And this app is excellent if you are going back to work and have your baby in childcare because you can sync it with other people.
